In October last year appeared information that Intel began the development of LTE-modem Intel 7360, which will be installed in the iPhone 7. For this purpose, the company has formed a special team of thousands of employees. Recently, an analyst at CLSA Securities srnu Padzhuri, citing its own sources, confirmed these rumors. He said that Intel will be one of the main suppliers of LTE-modems for the iPhone 7 and will cover about 30-40% of the devices, while for the rest of the modems will
deliver Qualcomm.
According to available information, the Intel 7360 modem supports LTE Cat. 10, 29 LTE bands and is capable of download speeds up to 450 Mbit / s and recoil - 100 Mbit / s. At the moment, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus can transmit data at a speed of only 300 Mbit / s and 50 Mbit / s for reception and return, respectively.
In the future, Apple may develop a chip that will include the CPU and LTE-modem, so as to increase the data transfer rate and reduce power consumption.
