Yesterday came the update iOS-version of one of the most popular media player VLC. By mistake, the developers mentioned in the list of changes to support Apple TV set-top boxes of the fourth generation. Later it turned out that the release of the VLC tvOS expected in the near future. However, the update has brought a lot of other innovations for iOS, iPad, and even smart watches Watch. The VLC for Mobile for iOS is now possible to connect to the cloud storage such as Dropbox and iCloud Drive, to play video and other files directly from there.
In addition to the release of a native application for watchOS 2 app now supports searching via Spotlight, multi-Split Screen mode on supported models of iPad and lock fingerprint using Touch ID.
The list of changes the new version of VLC for Mobile:
- dropped support for iOS 6.1 (now requires iOS 7.0 and above);
- added support for file sharing SMB;
- redesigned user interface;
- rewritten extension watchOS 2;
- Added search through Spotlight;
- added support for multi-mode Split Screen;
- launch applications by fingerprint using Touch ID;
- added to improve the interface for languages where the text is written from right to left;
- an opportunity to restore playback from the last place;
- Added setting gestures;
- adds support for music albums with more than one disk;
- Display chapter in the playback menu;
- played now link is displayed on all devices;
- entered information about your account is transferred to all devices;
- credentials in the cloud passed between all devices.
All of these changes are already available to owners of iPhone, iPad and Watch, but the Apple TV Support will have to wait a little more.
