Scientists at MIT have created a universal app for the Internet of Things

The concept of "smart" home and the Internet of Things are gaining more and more popularity, so many people began to think about developing a single interface to manage the entire electronics.  Today, almost every "intelligent" device has its own application, and if nothing changes, we have to regularly switch between dozens of programs to control gadgets around us. A group of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology believes that their application Reality Editor can be a universal remote control for the Internet of Things.

Reality Editor is an application of augmented reality in which you just need to point the camera of your smartphone or tablet to the desired device. After this, the screen will display a graphical interface to manage the device or system. For example, you can point the camera at your car to adjust the heating or open windows.

As planned by the developers, the application can even create links between different devices, which will perform several actions on the basis of a single event. For example, you can target the thermostat to adjust the temperature, and then set the camera smartphone to your TV to turn on your favorite TV show. This all happens in one application - you only need to aim the camera smartphone from one device to another.

At the moment the application is still in the early stages of development, but the owners of iOS-devices can already try it. At the moment, to synchronize with devices using QR-codes, so it is easy to manage the entire home may not succeed.
