The Transmission update for OS X contain a virus-extortionist

Last week in the popular Transmission BitTorrent client for OS X discovered ransomware virus called KeRanger. The malicious code contained in the update 2.90, within three days of the encrypted data on your hard drive Mac, and then demanded money for access to the files. Transmission developers recommend to urgently remove the program versions 2.90 and 2.91 and upgrade to 2.92, which automatically removes malicious software.

If you have installed an update Transmission 2.90, urgently required to check whether the virus is not running on the Mac-cryptographer:

  • in the Annex "Monitoring system" must be checked, whether the process is active kernel_service;
  • if kernel_service running, open it and go to the tab "Open Files and Ports";
  • in this tab, find the way to / Users // Library / kernel_service immediately and complete it by force.
After closing the main process and update KeRanger Transmission BitTorrent client to version 2.92 to your computer Mac nothing will threaten.
